Page name (deleting number from)
-
How do I get rid of the number ‘-2’ that crops up at the end of most of my page names? It’s there because I originally created the pages, then deleted them fairly soon after (as I was trying to get the order right), then re-created them. The original versions of the pages no longer exist, so why have I got ‘-2’ still as part of the page names? Actually, I don’t need to know the answer to that! I just need to know how to get rid of the number – so my page titles would read, for example, ‘www.yorkauthors.co.uk/fiction’ rather than ‘www.yorkauthors.co.uk/fiction-2’. (If it’s relevant, my theme is ‘Misty Lake’)
Many thanks for your help!

The number is an indication of the fact that you created it before and deleted it but did not permanently delete it from your Trash.

Aha! Thank you *so* much for explaining that! It *would have* solved my problem, except that my trash is now empty – I assume because I originally created then trashed the pages over 30 days ago. So, given that the original pages no longer exist and have been automatically deleted, any further ideas about how I go about getting rid of the number that appears at the end of my current page names? Many thanks for any light you can shed!

Go to Pages > All Pages, click Quick Edit under each page title, correct the Slug, click Update.
