page navigation missing

    Hi-

I created a post, which I use as my main/landing page, and then several more pages I wanted to have linked. All I’ve ended up with are separate pages with no ability to go from one to another, and no sidebar nav. I have seen a post about this, and followed the advice given but it doesn’t fix the problem (eg- add page widget, add category widget). All the widgets have done is put a “page” and “category” heading in the sidebar. What I need are for the actual pages/categories to show up to enable getting around the site. If it helps, I’m using Blix theme.

Thanks for any insights- all comments appreciated.

We need a link to your blog to really help but in general, there is no page navigation between pages, so in order to go from one page to the next, you would have to use the page widget.

    Pages don’t have categories, either.

Perhaps you need to look at this FAQ http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/11/11/a-post-and-a-page/

  • All of the pages you have created are set to PRIVATE. This means that only you – when logged in – will be able to view them. They will not appear in the primary navigation of your blog.

Blix doesn’t display the sidebar in static pages; but it adds page tabs in the header, so there CAN be navigation from a page to another.

Thank You!! You are each and all my heros! Except Vivian. I think the term is Heroine.

Thanks Vivian for the FAQ link, and your kindness in commenting. Learned something new.

Bubel- Yes, pages were set to private after an intolerable experience with a popular free hosting service this week- I wanted to make sure ‘all was well’ before going public. (Google analytics was showing most page views on prior site were to administrator app pages, where one viewer browsed for over 30 minutes!) So I switched to wordpress and am a much happier camper. (Actually, it LOOKS a lot better, too.) You should know that removing ‘private’ setting did in fact bring the page names forth in the sidebar, as you stated it would. Thank you.

Pana- Thank you for putting my mind at ease- Yes! You are quite right. That is just as it shows on my pages now- I appreciate your comments tremendously.
