page not found: Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn’t here
-
I have a blog, http://milteens.wordpress.com , that has several pages, and a couple of them are “child” pages. Whenever I click on a “child” page, (for example, http://milteens.wordpress.com/category/tag-minutes-3-18-2009/ ) I get a page that says only “Not Found
Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn’t here.”
I’ve searched WordPress support for information about child pages, pages in general, this specific error and everything else I could think of but haven’t found a solution.
How can I get the child pages to work?
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

@natickref: a) Child pages would show in your sidebar, under “Pages”. b) The URL you’re giving as an example is not the URL of a page but of a category. If you had sych a category, it would also show in your sidebar, under “Categories”. Where exactly in your blog is “tag-minutes-3-18-2009/”?
@ramahnjemahl: No you’re not having the same issue. You have deleted the sample “Hello World” post, so your front page has nothing to display. You should either add posts, or set a static page as your front (see the FAQ on that); possibly add widgets as well.

My first page says ” Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn’t here” and I cannot do anything with it, I cannot modify it, add to it, nothing it shows when you type in the url http://www.locolarrycontrols.com it is the first and only page. I hade two other pages but deleted them because of this. There has to be a way to modify this page, but when you go to the admin and look under pages it is not there, How do I get rid of this page not found?

saveoncontrols
Go to your dashboard, posts, add new.
It says that because you have not made any posts. You might want to read about the difference between posts and pages.

I have aa program called yugma.com if you have it you can sign in and see my desktop, and you can call me direct at [number removed]

@saveoncontrols: You should read my response to ramahnjemahl and Tess’s response to you more carefully. Your “first page” is not a “page” you can find somewhere to modify: it’s just the blog front, and it’s meant to display your latest posts (or a page you have created, if you set it so – in Settings>Reading).
-
Ok, now I feel stupid, There are no pages <NONE> There are no posts <NONE> there is nothing to modify, There is now way to do anything to that page that I can find. I am so frustrated with this as it is just there and I cannot do a dang thing with it. I went to settings >reading) it is set up for
Blog pages show at most posts 10
Syndication feeds show the most recent posts 10
For each article in a feed, show For each article in a feed, show Full text
Summary -
Yes there is nothing to modify, since you have no posts and no pages at the moment. Go to Posts > Add New, and create a post. Once you publish it, the blog front will display that post. When you publish a new one, it will display the new one as well on top of the previous one, etc.

I think someone should probably take off the phone # from this post. Never post a phone number on a public forum!
