Aloha! I just noticed my Contact page is not showing in the menu bar at the top. I wonder how long thatʻs been. ;-? I there something I need to “program” to correct this? Is there a limit to what is visible on the menu bar? Thank you, and Hauʻoli Makahiki Hou -Happy New Year!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi. That might be a limit with the theme indeed. I use Firefox 9 and noticed that depending on the zoom (Ctrl + or Ctrl -), the Contact tab will be visible or not visible.

thanks for reply. I’m using Firefox 8, so I should upgrade? You’re saying you can see it?

Well, I just went there with Safari, and the Contact tab shows up. With my Firefox, I zoomed in and out, and still could not see it either way. What does this mean?

I was told on another occasion that wordpress.com works best with Firefox.

I need to be away from computer for 2 hours, so thanks for your insight, I’ll check in when I return.

OK, I’m here. A funny thing happened while I was away. My Firefox upgraded to 9, so thank you. However, that did not solve the problem on Firefox. If this is an issue with Freshy with Firefox, would it possible for Freshy to be updated? Anyone have another opinion? Will I have to reduce the number of pages on my blog? Thank you.

You have run into a couple of things.

    1. All browsers render pages differently, even if that is only slightly differently. Safari renders text and such a little narrower than Firefox and that means that in Firefox the menu, with the contact button, is wider than in Safari and the button does not show.

    2. Most themes, if a menu bar needs to, will go to a second row of buttons. Freshy will not.

You need to either shorten up the labels/page titles for your pages in the menu, or you need to perhaps thing about creating a custom menu and using submenus (dropdowns) for perhaps one or two menu items. As a suggestion, you could create a submenu under “about with Contact and Thank You on it.

Another alternative would be switch to a different theme.

Another alternative would be to get the custom design upgrade and then tighten up the spacing between the menu item labels so that the contact tab shows. This isn’t the best solution though since a user could have their browser zoomed in and then it would possibly again end up with a tab hidden.

Thank you for the advice. As usual, very helpful. I knew there would be an answer. I’ll try to shorten the labels first. Once I tried to create submenus, with a parent, and ran into difficulty. Freshy didn’t do it. But I can try again. Also…thank you for the blogroll listing – saw it recently.

That was easy. Problem solved. Thanks again.
