Page of Thumbnails as Links to Galeries – How to?
-
I am trying to create a blog to chronicle an Alaska road trip. Most of its content will be photos. I would like to create a page of thumbnails that might represent a day, location, attraction, whatever, that serve as links to galleries of related photos.
Doing this the old-fashioned way, I would have used a table. My HTML skills being very rusty and my being lazy, I and hoping for an easier solution.
The blog, while I am playing and learning, is private. I am using the Twenty Twelve theme but not necessarily married to it. I would consider a different or premium theme or even pay for some coding.
Suggestions?

Hello there,
I suggest that you may want to read and act on this section of the support documentation > http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/ -
If you are willing to change themes, then take a look at “Spun” “Photography” “Visual” and others with a grid of pictures on the front page linking to posts where you can then add galleries of related pictures.

Thank you, timethief!
Actually, I have read the documentation and what I could find searching the forums. After posting, I realized my question should have been more clear.
I know how to create galleries and also to use images as links. My difficulty is creating the page of small images to use as links. The thumbnails displayed as a gallery does not work for my needs as far as I have been able to figure out.

1tess, thank you!
That may be the best solution in the end. I looked at some of the photo-oriented themes, but they seemed to me to place too much attention on the photos. Imagine that!
If I were a really good photographer, that would certainly be the way to go. Since my photos are more of just a documentary nature, rather than artistic, I would rather not accentuate them as much as a portfolio theme would. If that makes any sense.
