    I am having an issue with the WordPress site GUI I cannot publish my page, it seems to be a wordpress issue not a hosting issue.

    Hello rebekahragan,

    Like you said, it sounds like it could indeed be an issue with the WordPress GUI and not a hosting issue.

    Did the site undergo any theme change or update? Was any new plugin installed recently? Such events can cause changes to the “user roles” which might a potential explanation to the issue you are facing.

    Just to make sure, can you go to the “Users” page in your WordPress Admin (wp-admin/users.php) and check whether the users who are having trouble editing and publishing have the correct permissions?

    If these doesn’t resolve your issue, like ryrhino00 mentioned, it might be better if you post this query at the WordPress.ORG support forum, which is the support forum for third-party hosted WordPress websites. The forums here are focused on the websites running on the WordPress.COM system. People at the WordPress.ORG support forum would be better suited to solving externally hosted WordPress websites such as yours.

    Hi, @rebekahragan
    Your site is not hosted here, on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress.org software at another hosting provider.

    For general help with the version of WordPress you’re using, you can ask the WordPress.org community over at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

    The other option: you can ask the support of your hosting,

    You can read more about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com here:

    Cheers.

    We did do some site work recently, and set the default theme as 2020. We also installed some plug-ins to improve security, and functionality. I’ll plug-ins that we installed are compatible with our version of word press and no one has changed permissions. We were able to publish up to probably last week, so this seems to be a new issue.Not sure how to resolve it.

    @rebekahragan
    If the user roles are being shown in the ways you want them to be, and the problem persists, kindly request support at the WordPress.ORG support forum.

  • Hello, I’m sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your website. However, your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted with Bluehost.

    Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. You can find more information here about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

    https://wordpress.org/support/ is a great resource for sites using the open source WordPress.org software, and you can find support for that at: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

    Your hosting provider’s support team may also be able to assist.
