Page Removal Request
-
An article written about my friend is the first hit that comes up on Google when you enter his name. He did what the article said, but he’s since gotten clean and turned his life around.
Like most of us, he’s made mistakes in his life, and he has paid the price and received the necessary treatment. He has 8 months of sobriety under his belt, as do I.
Does anyone know how to get this page taken down?
Here is a link to the article I’m referring to:
-
Unless the person who published the post on their site chooses to remove it nothing can be done about it.
-
I agree, but I also read otherwise. I posted on here because apparently I can’t email WordPress directly (asking them to contact the blog owner) without having a premium account.
-
This has nothing whatsoever to do with upgrading. Staff cannot violate privacy https://en.support.wordpress.com/private-information/ and provide any email address for any account to any of us. If comments are closed and no contact information is provided you have no means of contacting the owner of the site.
If you read otherwise anywhere, then you can knock me over with a feather because I have been here for over 11 years, I predate all support docs and all but one support Staff member being on wordpress.COM Staff.
-
I can’t email WordPress directly (asking them to contact the blog owner) without having a premium account.
Support Staff do not contact any site owner on behalf of anyone else.
-
Are you a paid staff member of WordPress? I am not asking anyone to violate anything. I would just like for an official person at WordPress to contact the blog owner, which purports itself as a bona fide news source in my town, and ask them to take down the post.
Here’s a link the page I was referring to:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/help-support-options/I must have misunderstood the following statement: “If you have a paid upgrade, please use the “Contact Support” form. If you have a paid plan (Personal, Premium, or Business) and we have chatters available, you’ll be able to chat with us live. Otherwise you can submit the form and we’ll follow up by email.”
I missed the “Otherwise….” part of the paragraph.

I am not a Staff member and have already tagged this thread for a Staff response.
When we need Staff help with issues Volunteers cannot resolve like this one we type modlook into the sidebar tags on our forum threads. I did that for you. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Then we subscribe to this thread so we are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.
-
I’ll wait to see if someone official would be willing to contact the blog owner and politely ask them to remove the post. That is all that I’m asking. I’ve already done so myself with no response.
-
I’m sorry but as this is a busy season fewer Staff are available and waiting time for responses to support tickets is longer. Also what I said above ie. Support Staff do not contact any site owner on behalf of anyone else will hold true so please don’t hold your breath.
-
Thanks. It’s a little puzzling that they won’t contact the owners directly, especially when I’ve been the target of slanderous blog postings. There should be some way, other than legal action, to get rid of some of this junk. Thanks and have a Happy New Year!
-
Staff provide software support only. They do not act as advocates for anyone as that is not their role. Moreover, there is no legal action that one can take to have what is public information of any criminal conviction removed from a site.
-
I’ve been the target of slanderous blog postings.
Slander is word of mouth. It is not libel so be clear on that.
Complaints like this one are not dealt with here on the public support forums. Only Terms of Service Staff have authority in such cases and their authority applies to blogs hosted by WordPress.COM, not to any others.

@kboyle3 we generally only contact site owners if the content is against our terms of service, and otherwise recommend addressing free speech with more free speech. You may contact the site owner directly, or comment asking them to take it down or provide an update.
Or, if the site should be reported, you can do that as @timethief suggested:
