Page replaced by blog category! Help!
-
Hey there!
I built this WordPress site mostly as a static site with the Stay theme. Recently I went in to check some edits and noticed that my menu item “St. Croix USVI”, which used to go to a Page with that title, now brings up all blog posts on the site that include the “St. Croix” tag or category. In the Dashboard that page is listed as a “Posts Page” but I do not recall setting it as such, and I want the flat Page content to load, not blog posts. I can’t find where to change this back???
I am also encountering some broken loads on this theme today. I loaded the homepage to view and the slideshow at the top of the page loaded as five congruous images… is WP.com klugey today? Also getting a lot of autosave warning, reloads etc.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

OK I think I solved my problem. Somewhere there is a menu called “Customize > ?? > Static Front Page” in which there is an option to select your static homepage and also a Posts Page. I’ve made a new page to hold posts.
Cheese an bread! That was not easy to find. I like the old dashboard and don’t like when the new “simple” one rears up.
The other problems seem to be diminishing.

If you prefer to avoid the Customize page (Appearance > Customize) to access your Settings menu, you may. Choosing to display posts or a static page on the front page, and selecting a posts page if a static front page is chosen, can be done at classic dashboard (https://longfordhideaway.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php>) Settings > Reading.

Ignore the “>” tag at the end of that URL. Don’t know where that came from.
From https://longfordhideaway.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php, the Settings > Reading menu option will take you to https://longfordhideaway.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-reading.php.
