There is only one dynamic page on wordpress, and that is the main blog page (and the pages generated off that, categories, tags, archives). Pages you create are static and sit outside the blog structure. You can kind of think of them as a single, stand-alone post.
One thing you can do is to make categories for meeting announcements and for Discussion and then put those categories into your site navigation using the custom menu feature. Then also create a category called “posts” or “blog” that you assign to all normal blog posts. You then put that category in the top navigation as well.
Next, you create a static front page for your site so that no posts show there. Then people can click on the different categories at the top to see the normal posts, see the discussions, or meeting announcements.

Somehow I can not add categories or links to my custom menu. This is what I do:
– I have created some categories.
– They appear in the category-field on the left side of the custom menu page.– Every time I click “Add to Menu” a symbol tells me that it is busy doing so, but my browser page says “Done” down below. Nothing happens.
I can not find out how to fix this and I don’t think it is related to the theme I use. The one I use now supports custom menus and my previous theme had the same problem. Do you have any idea?
