Page tabs in Duotone disapear

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi guys

    Hope you can help!

    I’m using the Monotone theme at the moment. I like how it has the ‘About’ page tab at the top.
    I’d like to use Duotone; due to all of the extras. But I dont what the list of pages in the sidebar at the bottom. I want to keep the page quite minimal. When I preview Duotone, the pages are listed at the TOP of the page. If i activate Duotone, the pages show at the top for a second and then go. I’ve tried to preview the site when I’m logged off incase the dashboard is hiding it – no joy.
    I’ve tried adding widgits- deleting widgets…. am I missing somthing?
    So my question is, how can I get the pages to show at the top in Duotone, as they do in the preview?

    Thanks

    Sarah

    Can anyone help out on this one??

    I haven’t seen the behaviour you’re talking about in Duotone. How many pages do you have? Just the two? Only two page tabs show on top ever, is my understanding. And how long are the page names?

    Beautiful portraits, by the way.

    Hi, Thanks!

    I have 4 pages, I’ve posted the page links in the ‘about’ page. They are not too long:
    ‘Illustration’
    ‘paintings’

    It’s not a big deal – just thought it would look better.

    Do you know of a way to make the page links into a button or a hyper-link?
    I tried to paste one that was in a forum – but it didn’t work, it showed the whole text: </* etc.

    Thanks

    monotone and duotone will only display two page tabs. Period. What you can do is set some pages as sub-pages, and in Duotone you can use the Page widget as one of the three you’re allowed, so all your pages show up on each page.

    Here are some tips that will help:

    Some remarks on Monotone and Duotone

    “monotone and duotone will only display two page tabs.” No, that applies to Monotone only – Duotone displays header tabs normally. I don’t know why they didn’t show up in your case. Pehaps you should switch to Duotone again so we can see.

    Changed it back.

    When the blog loads, the pages show in the top righthand corner for 1 second and the go. You have to be quick to spot them, but they are there!
    Also still showing in preview…

    Oh, live and learn, thanks for that.

    Now I see * archive
    * Commission me
    * Illustrations
    * Paintings

    I think that perhaps your screen resolution is narrower than normal. That might have this effect. Can you tell us what your resolution is?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Yes I can see the tabs fine too. One thing you can do to reduce the width of your front is delete the image from the page and upload/insert a downsized copy of it. (You could change the image resolution from 300 to 150. And if you want it centered, set the alignment to None.)

    But if you can see them for a second, then maybe it’s a browser or server problem? What browser are you using?

  • Unknown's avatar

    My screen resolution is: 1204 by 768.
    I reduced the size of the image, but that didn’t work. So I deleted the image completely and I still can’t see them.

    I’m using Explorer, I’m at work, so don’t have much choice in that. Which would you suggest for home use?

    WordPress always works best with Firefox. But try this first: Log out of WordPress, clear your browser cache and cookies, and restart the computer. Before you sign in, go look at the blog and see if you can see the tabs in the right place. Then sign in and see if anything changes.

    Hi, tried that and still no joy!

  • Unknown's avatar

    I guess if everyone else can see them then that’s half the battle.

    Explorer ignores many web standards. Explorer 6, in particular, is an obsolete browser that developers have stopped taking into account, and even the official IE page recommends abandoning it.

    I think you’re right. I’ve viewed the page on Firefox and Google Crome and I can see the tabs. Time to switch from Explorer…
    Thanks alot for you help.
