Page Update Issue – WordPress 5 Changes

Hi Guys – I know you’re busy with all Tumblr issues, but I suspect my issue may have more to do with the WordPress 5 release.

I am currently trying to update one of my pages (https://svliquors.com/sales-ad/), but any thing I do seems to be getting “ignored” when I hit the update button. The page now loads “blank.” (without the sales ad or button.)

Checking out this new “block” function up top, the visual looks similar but the html coding is definitely different from what I had set in content builder. Which those elements I had created have now disappeared from the content builder section below.

I’ve tried rolling back changes to five days ago when I last posted an update, but have the same issues each time. The page ends up blank when I preview it or update. I haven’t been able to get anything posted now, and am afraid to mess with any other pages for fear of the same thing happening.

    Thanks for your help!

    ~ Matthew

  • Hi Matthew, sorry that’s giving you trouble! The new editor does indeed change the HTML format quite a bit. Sometimes simply using an HTML block, or converting a block to HTML, is all you need.

But you’re also welcome to install the classic editor plugin if it would be easier for you. The sites hosted here already have options for both the classic and new editor available, too.

Since these forums are primarily for WordPress.com hosted sites, which is fairly different from your own installation, I’d recommend asking in the support forum for self hosted sites for further assistance:
