  I have been helping a friend to make adjustments to her site. One of these was making some static pages one column only (No side bar). No problem there but she would like them also to be full width. We both use the Twenty Eleven theme. I can simply choose Showcase from the page templates option in the page section of the dashboard on my WordPress.com site but hers is WordPress.org and this option is not in the dropdown list. Is there a simple way for her to make a static page text full width?

  Your friend might try creating a child theme in order to customize her blog.
