Page width
-
Hullo everything seems pretty much ready to go. But my columns only fill about half the width of a computer screen (PC, not tablet/phone). How can I make all the pages on my site use more of the available width please?

Hi there,
May you please share a link to one of the pages you want the width adjusted or your site URL

Hi there,
Is this for https://coryluscompliance.wordpress.com/?
I see you have your content on the front page inside a columns block, and that block is currently set to the wide width option. If you change that to full-width, it will use the full width of the browser window:
However, you’ll notice that doesn’t look very good: There’s a reason text on a site doesn’t by default show full width, and that’s because the human eye can’t comfortably read lines beyond a certain length. So central to any theme’s design is a built-in restriction on the width of the content area.
The block width settings allow you to override this, but this is more so you can intersperse your text content with full-width images, use full width cover images as a background to your content, vary the number of columns in different sections on a page, etc.
I wouldn’t recommend using it to make your text content full-width.
Let me know if you have any questions about this.

Ah, simply by toggling to full and back to wide the columns now fill the full width of the page (as defined by the items in the header section – title and menu).
I’ve no clue why the column block was artificially narrower than the rest of the page, but I now have what I want. I wasn’t after a full 100% width, just the natural page width as defined by the top and bottom artefacts on the page. Thanks for the pointer, we got there :-)
