Page Width Query
-
Does anyone know why Galleries aren’t confined to the same page width as text on Portfolio Project pages when using the Illustratr theme?
Single images remain within the same boundaries as the text but galleries extend way beyond that and it’s causing some posts to look a little untidy.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there! Do you mean the galleries like the one with 3 images across the width of the page like the one here: http://aviationhighlights.co.uk/portfolio/cleared-to-lift/?
Or something else?
-
Yeah, just like that.
On a desktop browser they go way beyond the boundaries of the main text area.

Okay, thanks. I’m looking into it but haven’t seen the issue yet on my end.
Do you mean the gallery overlaps the blue area sometimes? Or does it stay within the white area?
Also, in which browser(s) are you seeing this?

It seems that it’s the same in any browser; I’ve tried Chrome, Edge and IE and all three show the same symptoms.
I don’t know if this sheds any light on it but before the page has finished loading, the gallery remains within the confines of the text area but then as soon as the page has fully rendered, the images extend beyond the limits.

Okay, I see what you mean. Thanks for the screenshot to clarify!
The way it is wider than the text area is intentional as part of the design of the theme. For example, you’ll see that right and left aligned images do the same thing: https://illustratrdemo.wordpress.com/image-alignment-and-styles/. And on image format posts, the large image is wider than the text, like in this example on the demo: https://illustratrdemo.wordpress.com/2014/04/07/my-new-camera/, so it’s worked in throughout the theme in varies ways for a consistent look.
For what it’s worth, I don’t think it looks bad the way it’s appearing on your site. It allows your images to be a big larger for easier viewing and adds some interest. :)
However, if you’d prefer them to all line up and want to make a change, you could use custom CSS to do that if you add an upgrade, like Premium, to your site to have access to Custom Design for adding CSS. You can compare plans here, if you’d like to consider that option: https://wordpress.com/plans/compare.
If you decide to add Premium at some point to access Custom Design and need help with the CSS, feel free to swing by the CSS Customization forum for assistance getting your CSS just right: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization.
