Page width using Theme 2017 in a web site

  The theme graphic and text appear full width on the opening screen of the web site but when I add content to a page it is restricted to an approximate half page column width. How do I get the content to go full page width?
  When editing and saving this half width screen ,I can position two photos one above the other but when I Publish, these two photos then display side by side at smaller sizes.
  Are these non-changeable defaults inherent with this theme? If so, which themes will alllow all pages to display at screen width?
