PAGEOK error hosted on WordPress.com

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi can you help me with my website which is showing a PAGEOK error please.
    http://www.healthhappyness.com

Name servers and IP all seem to be correct to worpdress.com BUT some WHOIS sites say it is still hosted by Godaddy. I have called them and they say they have no link to that site or hosting at all.

    Could someone please help me?

    Thank you

    Hi there,

I’ll tag staff to confirm this, but from what I understand, https://www.healthhappyness.com/ won’t work because the “www” sub-domain is not supported on WordPress.com.

http://healthhappyness.com/ is loading fine for me though, that displays a WordPress.com blog, but it hasn’t been edited since 2017. It can take some time for DNS changes to propagate across the web though: https://dnschecker.org/#A/healthhappyness.com

Staff will be able to help, and you’ll likely receive a response within a few hours though. :)

Hiya, thank you for the quick response.

For me both: http://www.healthhappyness.com and http://healthhappyness.com show a pageok error. Strange [but good] that you are seeing it.

Ill be patient and wait for a solution :-)

Yes nothing has been added to it since 2017 but it’s time for a revival!

    Hi healthboobhappyness,

I’m also seeing a pageok error when visiting healthhappyness.com. I noticed the name servers are pointing to WordPress.com but the A record is pointing to GoDaddy. I added our A records (which may take some time to update) but it occurred to me that you may not want to point the domain here. Can you confirm whether you want to point this domain to WordPress.com?

Just let me know and I’ll try and help you get this sorted.

    Hello gemmacevans,

thank you for your help. So I can now see a site but it isn’t the one I made and on this site there are only 2 blogs posts but I have made over 30 before March 2018.

What seems to have happened is I originally purchased my domain and hosting with GoDaddy. Somehow Automattic became the domain registrar and then I was encouraged to move over to Worpdress.com from GoDaddy but I don’t ever remember giving permission to do this and then my site has been inactive until yesterday.

GoDaddy claim no responsibility and say that they have no records of the site anymore or links to it.

What I really want is the content back and I can start a fresh. Is there any advice you can offer or reasons why this would have happened?

    Thank you so much

  • Hi there,

What seems to have happened is I originally purchased my domain and hosting with GoDaddy. Somehow Automattic became the domain registrar and then I was encouraged to move over to Worpdress.com from GoDaddy but I don’t ever remember giving permission to do this and then my site has been inactive until yesterday.

Our logs show you purchased a domain transfer from us to transfer that domain to us from GoDaddy on 12 January 2018.

You opened a support ticket with us after that regarding your content no longer being accessible. We explained that you’d need to export your content from your GoDaddy site to your new WordPress.com site, and you requested that we point your domain back to GoDaddy’s IP address on 14 January.

Your domain has been pointed to GoDaddy ever since, and I see no imports to your WordPress.com site, which tells me you never completed the process to migrate your content to your site with us.

The next entry I see in your support history is when you emailed us on 11 October about your site, which would have been the GoDaddy one as the domain was still pointing there, going offline. This most likely happened due to your hosting plan with GoDaddy expiring at that point.

GoDaddy claim no responsibility and say that they have no records of the site anymore or links to it.

If you let your hosting plan with them expire, they most likely deleted your site’s files from their servers. This is standard practice with hosting providers, and would be covered by the original agreement you made with them when you bought your hosting plan with them.

What I really want is the content back and I can start a fresh.

We don’t have your content, as you never imported it to your WordPress.com site. If you don’t have an export file or a full site backup of your old GoDaddy site, and GoDaddy no longer has any copy of your files on their system, then there’s nothing you can do.

You can try checking if web.archive.org has a snapshot of your old site. If they do, you should be able to recover at least some content by copy-pasting it from that site, but that’s the only option I’m aware of in the absence of a proper backup.

Hi Kokkieh, thank you so much for the detailed history. I was able to get the content I needed from web.archieve.org. This is everything we need to be able to start again without making the same mistakes.

    Thanks again everyone.

  • I was able to get the content I needed from web.archieve.org.

That is excellent news. It’s usually a long shot, so I’m so glad to hear that worked.

If you need any more help with your site here on WordPress.com you know where to find us.
