I am new and am setting up my site. I want to use it to post stories, but if every page gets its own little header then what happens with multiple chapter stories? Will it end up being a really really long post or can I make it so ever chapter has its own page?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I know the difference I was planing on ever chapter to be posted as a new page. I was asking if there was a way to make it so that not every page showed up either in the menu or the side bar.
The book thing is nice but both pages (Index and Chapter) are still showing up on the side bar I have a story that is 16 chapters another with 10 and one with 5 (so far) and a number of one shots so will every chapter still show up on the side bar?

Use the custom menu widget and create a custom menu for that widget and then include only the pages you want in that widget and arrange them as you wish.

:( I tired for literally hours to get the custom menu thing. I even used the theme they said about in that support page and I could only get one drop down menu. I am apparently only allowed 1.

The reason I came here is that there is a person who posts stories here and they can do what those links have said but I am doing what the site is telling me and none of it is working for me

No, you can have as many as you want. What you do is to position the sub menu items below the main menu item and then drag it slightly to the right so that it is indented and it becomes a sub menu. You can even do subs of subs by indenting the sub-subs beneath a sub.
The theme you are using supports custom menus so they will work. One thing you have to do sometimes is to move the sub around a little till you see the grey outlined box appear and then release the mouse button and after getting everything aligned as you want, make sure and click the “save menu” button. Also make sure in the theme location module to select the menu you created as the primary location if you want it at the top of the blog.

I did that. but it says on the page where I do the menus I title a menu and the box that says Theme Location “Your theme supports 1 menu. Select which menu you would like to use.” every theme I have tired has said that. I can leave the default Home thing there and make a page. do what I need to do for the menu go back to my main page and either the Home thing is gone or the other one is not there at all.

Some themes have more than one “main” menu location such as one at the top and one in the footer area, or perhaps two at the top (the custom menu widget is available regardless).
In that “primary menu pulldown, just select the custom menu you created and it should appear where the top menu location is (where home is now).

This is what is happening to me first in my dashboard menu thing it will look like this
my actual site looks like
so I do that little Primary thing and they look like
My actual page then looks like (not no pages now across the top)
so I change the primary thing so it looks like this
then my main page looks like this
The last one is close but I am still not able to get more than that 1 menu thing.

I know it works with your theme as I just put up a sample on my test blog for you to see.

I’m on my way out to meet friends for dinner, so someone else will have to take this over, or it will have to wait for a few hours or so. Sorry.
