I wanted all of my pages to be in capital letters so I made a new home page and titled it “HOME”, then I ended up with 2 home pages…”HOME” and “Home”. I deleted both home pages to start over but the original “Home” page (the one WordPress gives you when you first start your blog) will not go away! NoW I have “Home” listed on my site but I have NO page called “Home”. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

You have set HOME as a static front page. You have not selected a page to display your posts.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/First study the differences between static pages vs posts.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/Pages are for information which does not change, for example an about page, a lexicon, contact form…
You have only one place (page) to display your posts: that is on the one dynamic home page. Your posts display in reverse chronological order; each time you add a post the page dynamically updates. Posts have dates and can be tagged and categorized.
You cannot post to a page. A page, by definition, displays only one article. The front/home/blogging page displays all of your articles/posts.
http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/06/30/posts-on-pages/The dates and categories on articles/posts generate titles generate links. Those links can be used on your menu to allow your readers to choose which ones they are interested in. For example you can add categories to posts: HAIRSTYLES, or other topics you want to write about.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/category-pages/You can then build a custom menu to include those categories/topics.

The 404 error appears because you have deleted the placeholder post which comes with a new blog, by you have not written and published any posts yourself. Thus the 404 not found error because there is nothing there to find.
