Pages And Assets On WordPress.com Disappeared After Connecting to Rocket.net
-
General question. 1 Year ago I developed a small blog site hosted on WordPress.com. 4-5 pages, few images, some plugins. All worked fine. This week I decided to use Rocket.net to host. Connected site, DNS, etc. When I then logged into WordPress.com everything I had previously developed was gone and I do not understand why!
I was able to get the items back last night after a 40 min chat with WordPress support; however I want to avoid the issue again so trying to understand what may have happened. I fully understand that the site itself may not have worked if the DNS wasn’t fully propogated or email may have not worked but why would it affect the development environment inside of WordPress??
At worst I would have expected all of my pages to be in Draft status. The whole account was as if I had opened it yesterday with zero assets and 1 page. It was only after I showed the chat engineer my Cloudflare traffic for the month that he realized I did have stuff there before. -

I would think your best bet to get a reply as to why this happened so you can avoid it in the future is to continue the chat you started, but I would also suggest creating a backup export of your WordPress.com website. How you do that depends on your site’s plan.
