Pages and Footer widgets MISSING!!!

    Hi…I have been using the Academica theme since I built my site. It use to have 9 widget spaces, and now, in the new WP layout, the customization only lets you have widgets on Homepage and Footer. Even widgets that I used to have in my footer are MISSING!! And now, without the feature to change widgets on my Pages, HOW do I edit it?? This new rollout is definitely uncalled for as I have customized it to my liking and now I cannot even edit! Please help! Your assistance is appreciated. Thank you!

    If widgets have somehow been removed, they should be in the widget dashboard under “Inactive Widgets” and you should be able to simply drag them back to their correct position.

    Since I’m seeing widgets in sidebars on single posts on your site and not just on the Homepage, and I don’t see any change to the theme’s Showcase page concerning widgets, I’m not sure what is going on with your theme and have tagged this for staff assistance. Please be patient while waiting for them to reply.

    Hi @ucsimusicinfo,

    The discrepancy you’re noting between your widgets page here:

    And the widgets module under Appearance -> Customize -> Widgets is due to the fact that the latter only displays widget areas applicable to the page you’re on. So, for example, if you just navigate to Appearance > Customize, you will be placed on your homepage. As a result, you will only see widget areas applicable to your homepage. Currently, I see the following:

    Sidebar: Homepage (Left)

    Sidebar: Homepage (Right)

    Footer

    As shown here:

    You’ll notice that the “Sidebar: Homepage (Middle)” option is not in the list. This is due to the fact that your homepage is setup to display your latest posts. In order to use that widget area, you would need to set a static front page:

    When I click on About Us while in the Customizer, I’m now presented with a different list of widgets:

    Sidebar: Pages (Left)

    Sidebar: Pages (Right)

    Footer

    To recap, the widgets shown under Appearance -> Customize -> Widgets are specific to the page you’re on. If you’re on a page that the widget area doesn’t apply to, you will not see it.
