Are any of you guys afcing the problem of pages going a tad awry on IE while appearing perfect on Mozilla firefox? Why is it happening? wanted to write to Mtt byt the ‘support’ box isnt appearing on the blogstats page.. is it the weekend off already?

this is a common problem. wordpress is best viewed with firefox; many have complained about distorted layout when viewed in other browsers. my blog looks fine in firefox but it’s a mess if you view it in an older version of ie, lol.

No, the weekend off hasn’t started yet but support is down for the moment. It maybe come back in some hours but there isn’t much of a chance that you’ll get a reply before Monday. And anyway, you don’t need to contact support. This is a very common issue.

I believe you must be using IE 5.0 or earlier and hence the pages tend to appear distorted and warped because the formatting works differently. Since it’s appearing perfect on Firefox, so use that and be happy. Otherwise consider updating the Internet Explorer or else there’s no solution for the weird looking pages. You could also use Opera if you don’t like Firefox.

IE6 has some issues as well. All browsers will render pages slightly differently, and some browsers are more forgiving than others when it comes to things that may be slightly out of whack with a page. IE is NOT forgiving.

I just did a validation on your main page and it reports 54 errors which should be looked at as IE as I said is not forgiving. Firefox, Camino, Opera, Safari are all very forgiving. Click the link below and you can review the errors.

    http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fsachiniti.wordpress.com%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0

The other thing I would do is reduce the number of posts shown on a page by going to options > reading, setting the “show at most:” number to say 5 and then clicking “update options.” You seem to use quite a few images and this will speed up page loading time for those on dialup (the majority still are).
