pages have disappeard.

Support is closed so I thought I would try here. If you cannot help then please don’t attack me for asking the question – just ignore my post.
I was writing a new page and after I completed it and published it I found that all of my other pages had VANISHED. This happened to me a while back, only it was my bookmarks that completely VANISHED even though no one could come up with a reason for it nor a solution to get them back.
A lot of work went into those pages, so can someone help me with the steps to retrieve them since they should be backed up by WordPress — correct?
Thank You
Thanks in advance
-
They should be and probably are backed up.
This is the only page I see on your blog:
http://oldschoolmusiclover.wordpress.com/april-musical-birthdays/How many pages should we be seeing, and what are their titles? Can you see them under Manage–>Pages?
Check Google and type in the titles of the pages; they may have a cached version. In that case, copy the cached version and hold on to it, don’t repost it till Monday when staff has checked this issue. And be sure to contact them Monday if it’s not solved by then.

HI Raincoaster.
I had over a dozen pages that are gone from the sidebar and are no longer showing up on the management screen either. They included (at least the onces I remember)-About Me
Some of my Favorites
Recommended Reading
Recommended Viewing
Career Tribute to Robert DeBarge
January Musical Birthdays
February Musical Birthdays
March Musical Birthdays
October Musical Birthdays
November Musical Birthdays
December Musical Birthdays
etcI have been praying that they are backed up according to the policy in the FAQ that says:
“Is everything being backed up?
Absolutely. If a very large meteor were to hit all of the WordPress.com servers and destroy them beyond repair”
I am extremely glad to hear you say that they should be backed up as well. When I first joined here my Blogroll vanished and there was no backup so I hope that was not an
indication of things to come for me Monday morning when Customer service Opens Up.Thank You for your time raincoaster.

OMG Raincoaster – I just came back from checking my most important page via Google and thank GOD it is in the Google cache. I really appreciate you telling me that – at least I know now all hope is not lost for all of my hard work since my blog inception. I am off not to check them all.
Thanks again for your support.

Hmm I cant seem to find the others. Guess I just haven’t hit on the right syntax yet.
Oh well come on Monday, Monday! -

To save some time, please let us know what browser you are using, what browser plugins or extensions are installed, and the name and version of any internet security, firewall or accelerator applications you’re using.

Hi Tellyworth,
I did not delete anything from my computer. As my initial email said:
1. I wrote a new page.
2. published the new page.
3. went to look at it after publication
4. and saw that all of the other pages had vanished. That is the scenario. There is nothing else different or unusual that I did.
I did not go into management to delete anything. The files just simply vanished!
There really isn’t more to say to describe the situation. I have stated the events precisley as they happened.I use Firfeox version 2.0.0.13 (current with all updates)

Sondan, if you want support to help you asap you have to send these infos by email to support at wordpress dot com as tellyworth said. We on the forum cannot do anything.

Hi Isadora – I sent a request to support as soon as they opened at 8pm pacific today.
I wrote the forum in case someone else had the experience and could tell me something to soothe me over the weekend since support is closed on the weekends. That is also what is constantly recommended by support to do before contacting them.
Any idea how long it will take support to acknowledge my request? I would like to get on with my blogging schedule as I have already been unable to post my regularly scheduled Monday morning post.
Thank You
Thank you

Well –
I just checked my blog from here at work and now see that over a months worth of “posts” have vanished in addition to the pages that vanished this weekend. I was calm, but now I am very very concerned. I have written support again with this news.
Is there a phone number I can call or is the e-mail address the only way to contact support? At this rate I am afraid my entire blog is going to vanish right before my eyes.
Thank You

Well it is 6:25pm EST and my working day is over and it is close to the end of the customer Service work day and yet I have not yet gotten an acknowledgement of my emails to them. Is this unusual that I would not get a response?
How many days do responses usually take?
I sent the email to support@wordpress.com.
Is there another address I should be using? Please advise.Thank you.
-
I have responded to your support request. The posts are definitely being deleted from your IP address.

downthem all 1.0
This is probably the issue. A quick check shows that this is a preloader that scans the page you;re on and starts following links. If you’re looking at your blog while logged in, this addon is probably following the Edit links within each post, doing to the edit page, and finding the Delete button. Either that or following the Site Admin link on the blog, finding the Manage Posts page and find the delete links there.
-
If that is the case, that is a nasty little addon. You would definitely not want to use it while logged into your blog.
-
I had someone lose most of their site on another platform as they ran a web based java google sitemap creator and it hit every single delete link. Took a bit to figure that one out.

Thanks, Dr Mike. What an astonishing byproduct.
FYI if Google doesn’t have them all, try Yahoo or Yahoo China; they never seem to delete anything.

Hello –
I am really nor understanding any of this conversation. I guess I need the “dummies version” Exactly what is deleting my posts and pages because it is not me? What should I be uninstalling from my computer to stop this madness? And I have written support to restore my blog but I have not gotten an answer about when they will restore Tellyworth ,so I am confused as to what you are telling me you have responded. I have not gotten a single email from Support as of yet nor has anything been restored to my site now that it is 3 days later.
Thanks for you anticipated speedy reply.
-
Ok I just re-read the posts above more carefully and I will uninstall “Download them all” when I get home since I don’t use it (since I haven’t really figured out how to) but I don’t understand how it could physically delete posts and pages from my blog. Wouldn’t I see such an action happening on the screen?
-
I am wondering it it was “Download them all” add-on that deleted the posts – How could the additional months worth of posts vanish while I was on the road commuting between home and work and not using either computer t hat I have access to? Is there perhaps another alternative reason that should be considered as to why my blog is vanishing before my eyes?
