Pages keep being published as posts

I have been trying to add pages to my site. I create and publish the page, then get this message: “You just published a page. Yay!”, which sounds good and fine. However, instead of being a page, it actually shows up as a blog post. Very aggravating! Any suggestions?

Hey!
So just to let you know, your blog is protected (meaning its marked as private) so anyone trying to view it is going to be unable to unless you give access.
With that being said, are you adding these pages through the stats page or from the WP Admin panel?

Kevingharris, I am adding pages from the WP Admin panel. I seem to be able to do that in either a one-step or two-step process. In the subsection “Publish” it says “Pages” with an “Add” button next to it. I need to test a little more, but I think that clicking on this button may be the culprit. Alternatively, I can go to the full “Pages” page and then “Add New” from the sidebar. This seems to work as intended.
