Pages mixed up
-
I switched from Neat to Motif a few days ago. Something odd is happening with the pages, and I think it may have to do with some kind of “work around” that I did years ago before the newer simple system, when I was trying to make my front page a static page, and have no posting page.
Now, my HOME page is displaying a page that I can’t find in the Pages list, in my Pages list, I have a HOME page, but it is only a draft. This HOME, I think, is showing up in Appearance-Menus, and that says “custom” instead of page on the right, and gives the url to my blog.
And, when I click on my Contact page tab in the top menu, it is showing me my front page.
I’d love to get all these HOME pages cleared out and have one simple real homepage, set as a static page. I want it to be set up like my littlepuppetstudio blog, which is the same theme. Can someone help?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The Motif theme has a Grid template feature.
The grid page template http://motifdemo.wordpress.com/page-templates/grid-page/ is ideal for showcasing your products, presenting your team members, or displaying your portfolio items. Once you assign this page template to a page, you’ll need to create and publish sub-pages (or child pages) http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/#create-sub-pages-page-order for the grid to appear. The featured image, http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/ the title, and an excerpt from each sub-page creates a grid item.

The Motif theme has a Front Page Template feature as well. Read about it here http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/motif/

Thanks, all these are great, and I think apply if one’s starting from scratch, but something’s not right with my pages.
My blog opens to a Home/front page that does not exist in my Pages list.
I’ve got a “Draft” Home page with different text on my pages list that shows up in “Appearances- Menus”, but not in my Pages list.

Please… been fooling with it, somehow, I have two home pages. I have a HOME that is one I must’ve have drafted and called home, but my URL takes me to an empty homepage with NO TAB! How do I get my main URL page to have a Heading called HOME?
-
Next steps I’ve taken, but something still isn’t right:
I deleted the homepage with a HOME url. I emptied out the front page for my site and reposted, now I have HOME linked to my blog url, and I went to Appearances-Menus and found it there at last, and put it on my Menu Bar.
BUT, the Home page first post still doesn’t show up on my pages list, so I can’t make it a static page. I’ve made another page called Posts Page and made that the posts page, but I want my front page static and can’t find it on the list to make it so.

Maybe it is static? But, why does it show a posting date at the top? I don’t want that there, I want it to be non-dated, just like on my littlepuppetstudio.com page.

It sounds like you could use some Staff help so I’ll tag this thread for them to give you a hand. Subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Thank you for your help :) Someone from staff did already pop in another thread where I posted it, and she solved it, I’m very satisfied! Cheers!
