Pages opening in homepage instead of on separate page

I have created three page links on my homepage. However, when I click on them they open the page within my homepage, at the bottom. How do I get the links to open on a completely separate page? Thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

I visited your site (or tried to) but it seems that you deleted your Personal plan and included domain (joannlkelly.com) so that address is not active.

Do you wish to restore your plan and domain to active status so we can then take a look at your page issue?

    Thanks for the additional info!

Yes, I’d like to restore my plan and domain to active status, thank you.

  • Thanks for confirming. I have restored joannlkelly.com back to active status and you can confirm by checking your currently active upgrades here: https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/

I have created three page links on my homepage. However, when I click on them they open the page within my homepage, at the bottom.

Is it possibly because you have not created and published all the pages you need for your menu? I noticed for example that there was no Contact page listed here: https://wordpress.com/pages/

Some pages like your About page are created, but are still drafts and not yet published. Because of this there is no way to link to them in your navigation menu.

Please note that your entire site is currently set to “coming soon” mode, so it’s not visible to the public. Because of this it’s safe to publish all the pages you need, knowing that nobody can see them until you launch the site itself.

I recommend creating all the pages you need first (and publishing them) and then creating your navigation menu. If you create the menu before the pages, they don’t actually link anywhere, which sounds like the issue you are having currently.

When you start a new site, a menu is created for you automatically. However, if you need to add a new menu from scratch, this guide will show you how. 📌 To determine which section of this guide to follow, visit your dashboard and check under Appearance on the left side. If you see Editor, use the Site Editor section of this guide. Otherwise, use the WP Admin or Customizer instruction

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Thank you for restoring my domain, and for your suggestions here — this was very helpful
