Why aren't my pages displaying in order?

  I have set new pages in order (1-7 etc, in ‘page attributes’) but they still apear in alphabetical order … what am I doing wrong?

  The Pages widget at the Appearance -> Widgets section of your blog’s Dashboard is still set to sort by page title. Just change that to page order and it should display as desired.
