Pages Reverting To Blank State
-
This is an infuriating problem, and has caused many hours of work being lost in the past until I manually backed up the html code.
Essentially, sometimes after i’m done editing a page, and either click “save draft” or “publish”, it does that, but right afterwards, the page becomes blank, both in the “edit pages” screen and on the actual page itself.
This has now happened periodically about 3-4 times to me over the past 6 months, so it doesn’t seem like a temporary bug.
As I said, it’s also caused me to lose a lot of time and work, so some pointers or a general fix would be massively appreciated.

thereisanotherworld,
Please provide a link to your blog whenever asking a question in these forums, starting with:
http://
Or link your name to your blog—#2 on this list has some good advice about why this would benefit you:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/7-things-to-know-before-posting-in-wordpresscom-forums?replies=1Anyway:
In general, whenever you work with a computer you should always save early, and save often—no matter what the software or how reliable you believe it to be. Don’t wait until you are finished: just save often.
A tip is to “select all” and copy, before you save. If you are using a program that you know is tipsy, then you might even paste it into text-edit (or whatever the windows thing is called) before saving. But ask my husband about the times I’ve not followed this advice and the screams of rage when I’ve lost hours of work because I did not take the precaution to save early and often…
And yes, you should be copying the HTML code.

I did not provide a link to my blog as it is not really relevant to the question asked. I also followed 7 of the 8 steps on that page (the only one not followed having been mentioned in the previous sentence).
As for your advice, it is advice I do generally follow, but it does not really answer my question regarding the nature of this issue. 95% of the time I do not have such an issue with wordpress, but occassionally I do, and therefore it is easy to be caught off guard.
I have been, and will continue to edit by these rules, but the purpose of this post is to bring to attention a possible bug and to discover whether anyone else has had a similar problem.

I discovered why this was happening: the content of my page was too long, so it cut off, and reverted instead to just showing up as blank. I removed a few lines of html, and there it is, back again.

thereisanotherworld,
Often a link is needed by the volunteers: there are not so few wp.ORG bloggers who visit wp.COM forums by mistake. Our software at .COM is different so answers are not relevant to them. It wastes our time to give answers that are not useful. Besides, why are you so shy, if you have a public blog? Also, there is often a need to see a blog in order to answer a specific question.
Again, if you have a public blog, why would you be so reluctant to make easy links to it? It costs you nothing and other readers may find your question or blog of interest. As to
…it does not really answer my question regarding the nature of this issue. 95% of the time I do not have such an issue with wordpress, but occassionally I do, and therefore it is easy to be caught off guard.
I use Excel, Word, Photoshop, Illustrator, and whatever. And those highly regarded programs do sometimes fail the users’ best wishes. Saving, or saving in the right folder, or just crashing. A lot depends on the configuration of your own settings/intenet/wireless/whatever/else setup. and really, how your are handling it all.
