Pages v. Posts: Two-Column Issue

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m creating a blog for the first time and am stuck. If I create a post, I can add tags but when I preview my post, it doesn’t display in the two column Sapphire format. When I create a page, I can get the two-column look but I can’t add tags to what I post in the creation of that page.

Apparently, tags can only be added to posts, but only pages, not posts, display the two-column format.

So…How do I create a post that I can add tags to from my dashboard and post to a specific page? I don’t see a dropdown menu that lets me select the page I want to post to. What am I missing?

Actually, I answered my pages/posts/tags question, but I still don’t know why my homepage where my posts appear does not appear in the two-column format for Sapphire. Any thoughts?

Sapphire is two column, but one of those columns is the sidebar – if you were thinking about two post columns.

It appears that you do not have any published posts at this moment since I saw a “file not found” message.

Make a new test post, title it, put in a little text, category and tag, and then publish the post and then post back here so we can take a look.

Sapphire is a 2-column theme, but doesn’t display the sidebar on single posts. That’s the way the theme is designed; if you don’t like that, switch to another theme.

As for posting on pages, see here:

Ah, I didn’t think of the single post issue.
