Pages vs Posts

    1. Is a page write up a post? I mean you are writing a post but it is going to a page not a post on you home blog, correct?
    2. Why can’t you tag or categorize a page posting?

As you can tell I am confused as to how one uses a page. I think it is great to quickly reference specific topic areas by going to a page link from a navigation bar but it seems that content on a page is not the same as publishing a regular post.

    Any feedback would be great.

Are you in the right forum? The blog linked in your user name is not hosted here at wordpress.COM. If you are hosted here, try looking at the FAQ. (And consider changing the link in your user name to your wordpress.COM blog.)

    Vivian,

Thanks for the note…I did have to update my profile and not sure why it is using the provenplays username as I have it set to my name Nik Scalise.

At any rate, any help and clarity around pages would be great. I presume and cannot assign tags and categories for a page posting?

If I want others to be able to find a published page content I would have to also post the content from the page on the main blog home as a traditional post?

    Thanks

Pages that you create are static and outside the actual “blog” structure. You cannot put posts on pages you create. This FAQ should help you understand the difference.
