Paid account getting overridden by free account

  • Unknown's avatar

A couple of years ago I used my email address to sign up for a free WordPress account and completely forgot about it. Today I bought hosting through bluehost and bought my domain name through name.com. I used the same email address for signing up this time and now when I log into my account it automatically logs me into my old free account. I hope this makes sense and I hope someone can help out. Thanks.

  • If you are hosting on Bluehost, you are using self-hosted WordPress.org. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are little different and that can be confusing. You can see the difference between both at https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

To use your new site log into http://www.yayadventures.com/wp-login.php and you won’t see your old (wordpress.com) site there.

  • Hi there,

Just to expand a bit on that, the login credentials you had set for your self-hosted site has nothing at all to do with your WordPress.com account. The two are not linked in any way.

The login creds for your self-hosted site is stored in that site’s database on Bluehost’s servers, and we don’t have any access to it. If trying to log into that site is bringing you here to WordPress.com, the problem lies in your browser.

Please clear your browser cache and cookies, and then go tot he login link @akumarjain gave above, and you should be able to log into that site’s dashboard instead.
