Paid account, why?

    I was recommended this site to build HP by my own because it is provided free of charge. However, somehow I was led to pay about $48? Why this is so? Did I have a choice to create hp free of charge?

    Hi! Paid plans help cover our costs for infrastructure and staffing, so we do feature those in signup and launch flows.

    We also have free plans that will give you a .wordpress.com subdomain (or one of our other free subdomains). These will also show ads, as the advertising helps offset our costs.

    Paid plans remove ads, allow you to use a custom domain, and provide access to direct support. Plus they have several other handy features, depending on the plan you choose. You can compare all plans here:
