How long does it take for your domain to become active. I paid 36 hours ago and still no domain

why is mine taking so long and my friends was immediate

you should tell people up front before they sign on to wordpress

What is the URL starting with http:// for the .wordpress.com blog you are mapping form to the domain URL?
It can take up to 72 hours for a dmain name to propagate throughout the internet. That assumes that the blogger has followed through after payment and has completed all the required steps. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/register-domain/#instructions-for-registering-a-new-domain-for-your-blog Have you done them all? Have you updated the primary domain?
5. To activate your new domain go to Settings > Domains, select the button next to the one you wish to activate and click Update Primary Domain.
