Paid for Basic Membership and asking for me to pay again after choosing domain.

I paid the basic membership for 3 years. I didn’t immediately choose a domain. I spent a couple of days creating a website before I decided to choose a new domain. My new domain is cardiff-chess-club.co.uk. But when I select it, it forced me to pay for the basic package again! I checked my bank and it says I’ve paid twice.

and also created cardiffchessclub.wordpress.com with the custom domain cardiff-chess-club.co.uk
Each site will have been created under a different account which means you must have more than one email address. There is also a site at IONOS (currently offline). Did you want to keep that custom domain there or move it to WordPress.com? Or were you wanting to move the contents of that site to the .co.uk domain you purchased today? Being skilled in the art of chess I assume you have planned for all scenarios and wrote down the username and password for both accounts??

Thanks for the reply. To summarise, the only site we want is the one created today (cardiff-chess-club.co.uk). That other site https://cardiffchesscluborguk.wordpress.com/ we do not want.
As for the IONUS domain which I believe is cardiffchessclub.org.uk, we intend to end this domain once the contract expires.
So all we want is the cardiff-chess-club.co.uk. Are you able to refund my payment I made last week?
P.S. Chess players can make poor decisions too!

You have to request the refund yourself via your dashboard (if you are still within the refund window). Make sure you are logged out from here and logged in to the other account when you do too!!

Thank you, I managed to cancel it. However, I didn’t use two different accounts/emails to make the original. If you look at both sites it says created by stjukesd5675816c4, the same account. Nevertheless, I was able to pick and choose which one to cancel so it should be sorted now.

Sounds good. I can see you successfully canceled and refunded the unwanted plan. If you want to delete that site completely, you can follow the instructions here: https://wordpress.com/support/delete-site/
Be sure to check the site to be deleted doesn’t contain any information that you intend to keep.
