Paid for domain and upgrade, but still "free" account
-
WordPress seems to indicate that we can register our domain thru WordPress so that our blog address will be the domain name. Then when we register, we’re offered the opportunity for all these upgrades for $99. I went ahead and purchased those upgrades.
Then it told me that my new blog address is yourownindependenceday.wordpress.com, which is what I would have gotten had I gone the free route.
Also, in the past, when I’ve registered domains at other hosting services, I’ve had to complete a form with my personal information (address, phone, etc.) The fact that I was not asked to do this at WordPress makes me very suspicious. I’m not sure what I just paid $99 for – it doesn’t seem on the up and up. I’ve enjoyed my free accounts at WordPress very much and have heard such good things about WordPress. I hope someone can reassure me soon and tell me what the heck just happened here.
Thanks.

Thanks! Sure would have been nice if WordPress would have made that clear at the point of purchase. Also very strange that it takes the user through what feels like the beginning of a domain registry process, then takes a wild turn, and leaves the user to try to figure out how to get back to the domain registry process.
Appreciate your help!
