Paid Upgrade

I’d like to do a paid upgrade. What happens to my existing posts? Do I also get help designing the site?

What do you mean by designing a site? Here all blogs wearing the same theme are using the same underlying template which we bloggers cannot access or edit. This is a multi-user blogging platform. That means all blogs wearing the same theme are using the same template which only Staff can access and edit as every edit affects every blog wearing the same theme. You either purchase an annually renewable custom design upgrade so you can edit only the theme appearance and not the way a theme functions or you accept the themes as is.
We can purchase and upgrade and then do the required CSS editing to change appearance but not the way a theme functions. There is Staff support with the custom design upgrade. See here for details on purchasing the annually renewable custom and CSS editing:

Your posts stay exactly where they are and all that changes is the URLs.

All About Domains http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/all-about-domains/In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from and the domain name you desire must be available for purchase, or you must already own the domain URL.
You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard at > Store > My Upgrades to purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog.

After you do the primary blog set up it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

I still post in my wordpress.com?
As noted above the URL displayed to visitors changes – However you will continue to Post in the base original blog / Dashboard – you will not Post in a Dashboard that shows the custom domain name –
