Hi,
When I upload pictures to my blog they are very pale, but then when I click on them and they pop up in a new window the look like they should.
Please have a look: http://weirup.wordpress.com/
I look foreward to be hearing from somebody.

It sounds like a browser issue that’s why I ask you to try take
a look at the photo with the Firefox 3 browser Because WordPress
has been having issues with IE 7&8 (I did note you’re using Safari,) -
Sorry teck07 and raincoaster, Kirsten’s right (I checked it with two browsers, two image viewers, and two themes in my test blog). Here’s a telling comparison:
http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/2/22/805638/OrganStops.jpgKirsten, I believe the problem has to do with how the wp uploader handles scaling down. When I uploaded your image in REAL full size (that is, exceeding the width limit of your theme), the colors were ok.
In the snapshot I link to above, the second image was uploaded the way you did – your 722px wide original scaled down to 500 BY THE UPlOADER. The first was first scaled down to 500px (the maximum allowed for your theme) in an image editing application, then uploaded in real size.
So, for better results, this is my suggestion. You could also contact Support about the problem and see if they can improve things.

Thank you for your kind help. I will try to do as panaghiotisadam suggested.

This post will explain some of the reasons images don’t look as good in a post as they do full-sized: http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2008/05/03/how-good-is-wordpress-at-resizing-and-resampling-your-images/

OK I read the post and as I understand it, it should be safe to load a picture bigger than the 500px allowed for my theme.
So I just tried to load a picture as big as 800px (I want to show a large picture if somebody should click on the thumpnail).
But as you can see if you go to my blog, there are 4 pictures of Mister Cohen, the first 3 are loaded as 500px and the last as 800px.
I have done the same operation on all pictures, downscaling them in Photoshop.
Hmm! There must be a way?Best Karsten

You mean a way to make the scaled-down image both link to a larger original AND not be paler? I’m afraid the only way is to upload two images, the original plus a copy scaled-down in Photoshop, and make the second link to the first. (But I don’t think it’s worth the trouble.)
