  I need to contact wordpress support. I asked bluehost to look into why some redirect links weren’t working and they crashed my site. Before I could back it up (granted I should have done more frequent back ups). I am hoping wordpress can restore some bit of it some how.

  But this is the WordPress.com support forum. I’m afraid staff here don’t have access to your Bluehost site. Perhaps you can get some advice here:-

  Bluehost is the one that sent me to wordless to see if maybe they had a backup.

  Tell me if I’m being stupid but as you’re here in the WordPress.com forums logged in to the kristirosedotnet.wordpress.com. account are you sure you just aren’t using the incorrect login details for your self-hosted site?

  Otherwise you’ll have to seek help in the .org forum.

  You aren’t being stupid. I was getting the run around from bluehost (IMO). They kept saying it was a wordpress issue. First the site was gone (and so was my backup). I decided to call them instead of chat and they restored the my site from yesterday (aft telling me yesterday they couldn’t) but I was locked out. I went back to the chat at Bluehost and they said it was wordpress. Then I posted here and while waiting I decided to call them again instead of chat and now it’s fixed (except for the missing odds and ends on the site). You can see why I tried to get outside input bc the source was giving me conflicting info and your responses affirmed my belief that I was being misled.

  I’m glad its sorted. Anyone who reads this with a self-hosted WordPress.org site, for your own peace of mind take regular backups.

  Take backups BESIDE at your self hosting company. I just downloaded updraft plugin and will make sure I have backups on hand. I naively thought having it with them was sufficient.
