Paragraph formatting disappears when post is saved or edited

  Hi. Whenever I post something new, I have to publish it immediately. If I save it, or edit it after it’s published, all of the paragraph breaks inexplicably disappear… This only started happening a few weeks ago – is it a formatting issue with WordPress currently? Any suggestions as to what I should do?

  What browser and browser version are you using?

  Have you got an example of this on your blog right now that we could take a look at?

  Are you by chance copying and pasting from another program, or possibly from the web? I’m seeing some stuff in your posts that is not at all standard, and some of it is not HTML5 compatible which means, since all wordpress themes are doctype HTML5, it may be stripping out some incompatible stuff.

  Actually I see you are using the CSS3 font shorthand and I’m pretty sure that should be alright. It stuck fine in my test post.

  I do use a draft program to write the posts sometimes, and then drag it to the WordPress draft. But I’ve been working that way for over a year and this only started recently.

  If I publish it right after dragging the text on, the formatting stays fine, as it always has. It’s just when I go back to add something to the already published post, or try to edit the draft later after saving, that the formatting for paragraph breaks disappears.

  I just checked it now and it still is doing it for me. Have there been any WordPress updates that might have changed something that is now causing this?

  Oh, and I’m using Safari 5.0.5

  I’m using 5.0.5 and have no problems. If you can try a little experiment and let us know what happens.

  Create a test post, paste in some stuff like you normally would and then save it. If the editor strips out the code again, place your cursor somewhere in the text and then look to the left bottom edge of the editor text window. It should show something like “path: p”. If it does not, select everything in the text window and then from the format pulldown at the left of the lower row of icons in the visual editor, select “paragraph.”
