paragraph styles and block quotes
-
I have hit a problem.
I prepare blogs in Google Docs and then copy and paste into a new post edit in WordPress. I use lots of quotations and in Google Docs I can bolden, or italicise text easily. When I transfer the raw text to WordPress I begin the task of adding headlines, and italics for emphasis etc.I would like WordPress to indent my quotes so choosing Quotes seems the natural option but, unless I am missing something, Quotes puts everything into italics and will not allow me to bolden words for emphasis. Is there any way of creating ‘quotes styles’ after the manner of word processors? I would like to opt for plain text leaving italics and bold for emphasis but I do want the indent.
If I keep the paragraphs as plain paragraphs the transfer becomes very labour intensive and I have not found any way of saving my own style of paragraph which would enable me to save my options for a particular style of paragraph. So every paragraph acting as a quote has to be created afresh. Opting for a paragraph also prevents me from indenting my own quotes to set them apart from the other text.
How would others address this problem? Many thanks

Hi there,
Your site is not hosted on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress.org software at another hosting provider. We cannot help with this in the WordPress.com forums.
Please post in the self-hosted WordPress forums instead for help:

That said, Google Docs uses Rich Text Formatting, which does not behave in the same way as the HTML code used by web editors like the WordPress editor. While the WordPress software tries to convert any content you copy from a rich text editor into the proper HTML, that does not always work as expected.
Additionally, there are other factors besides just the markup in the content itself that can affect the display. The way quotes appear in the WordPress software, for example, is determined by the styling your theme applies to the
blockquoteHTML tag, and every theme styles that differently. You should be able to change that styling by modifying your theme’s CSS. You can contact support for the theme you’re using directly for help with that.
