Paragraphs not always double spaced after publishing
-
Normally when I press enter once at the end of a paragraph it automatically does a double line space, so that there is a gap between paragraphs. But in my most recent blog post, half of the post is not putting a double space between the paragraphs, and half is. I’ve tried manually adding an extra “enter” between the paragraphs. I’ve tried shift enter, etc. All to no avail. It looks ok in my draft post, but the published post shows half the post with no gaps between paragraphs. You have that error in more than one post. It’s usually because of some bad code somewhere in your blog, usually introduced because you’ve copy/pasted, either from Word or from somewhere else on the web.
This will cure it and prevent it happening again:
1) go to Settings->Writing on your dashboard and select “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML” and save.
2) go to Posts->All posts and set the most recent 20 or so posts to Private. Then make them Public again. That should force the change you made in #1 to take effect on all those posts, and that should take care of it and prevent it from happening again. If that doesn’t help, please report back. We’ll have to look deeper.

Thanks for you help. I did what you suggested. But….. it still looks the same. I looked at the most recent post and clicked on HTML (not that I know how to use it, but just to see what it looked like). The paragraphs that are correctly spaced just look the same in the HTML code. But the ones where there is no spacing between paragraphs, there is
The old paragraph ends, and then it shows
<div></div>
<div>Then the words of the next paragraph startAny more suggestions?

OK, I just went back into the post again, and backspaced the paragraph gaps in the draft (which looked fine in draft form anyway, in the visual editor). Then I pressed enter where each paragraph should end, and now it seems fine! Is it perhaps because I did the changes suggested, and I needed to delete the dodgy code before the changes would take effect? Anyway, it seems fine now!

Those extra divs are what caused the problem. Somehow one Div got unclosed and then it’s a self-replicating error. If you selected what I said on the Writing settings page, it shouldn’t happen again.
