Parallax for travel bog articles

Hi folks, I wonder if you can help. I work for a small none profit that produces mainly travel reports on a Joomla blog. The templates are not vey inspiring and really I would like to showcase the content in a parallax form with images. Something like you see on BBC.com longer reads.

Normally parallax only works with the home page or menu items. Im not sure if there are any work arounds that also let you somehow link your blog post to a hidden menu page if the feature isn’t supported.

I look forward to any suggestions of what others are doing and what themes they use.

    Thanks

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi @pthompsonjc2033world, can you clarify whether you’re moving the site to WordPress.com and looking for a theme here? These forums are for the free sites using our managed hosting service.

  • I noticed you posted a duplicate thread here.

We still need to know whether you’re planning to host the site here; if you are we’ll look at themes and options for our servers. Here’s the difference between our service and the free software (which has its own forum):

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

I’ll also copy my questions over to this thread.

Basically we need to know first whether you’re planning on using our hosting service (and possibly, which plan) so we can recommend a course of action going forward. Our free sites don’t have too many parallax options (this one comes to mind), but there are several premium themes that support it. Thank you in advance.

I’ll add too, sometimes different people mean different things when they say Parallax, so if you can link to a few pages or articles that show the effect you’re after, that’ll help, too.

Once you’ve clarified which path you’re taking and what you’re after, we’ll help you find some options.

Thanks for your input. So check out this articles from BBC:
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/extra/D1qVRFeHpC/the_danger_in_our_homes
This is quite a common way for news sites to bring their material to readers in an exciting way. Contrast that with out site:
    https://www.jc2033.world/en/news/blog/376-chronicles-of-paris.html
    Very boring!
Free / paid is all good for us I guess I’m wanting to see what features we can get from WordPress templates. Most CMS allow parallax features on the home or menu pages on a limited basis. However they do not allow it on articles or blog pages.

    I appreciate your help.

  • Thanks for the info.

While we do have themes that give you the effect you’re looking for, like:

    https://wordpress.com/theme/stratford/
    https://wordpress.com/theme/rockfield

You will be able to use those with your WordPress.com site. The URL you shared, however, seems to be a self-hosted one.

Please note that these forums are for WordPress.com hosted sites only. If your site is using the open-source WordPress.org software you need to seek help at these forums:

Thanks again so two nice themes.

If I can just clarify. Many CMS like WIX and Joomla don’t support parallax on the blog posts. Yes on the front page or menu page but not on articles (blog posts)

Strattford has a blog but it isn’t parallax which makes me wonder.
Rockfield is nice exactly the look but it doesn’t have a blog.

    Appreciate your input.

I also like this site which I think is a WordPress template:
    https://esbs.org

  • You’re right that this effect will be on the home page only, although there might be third-party themes that allow that on blog posts as well.

The theme on the site you mentioned seems to be a custom made one.

Thanks so confirming that on this free WordPress platform. Parallax is not available on blog posts. Thank you for your help.
