Parasites on my blog

Someone illegally placed a link in one of the posts on my blog (http://complaceme.com/2013/07/15/el-orgasmo-femenino/) the words “las relaciones” (9th paragraph) are now linked to some kind of dating pop-up WHICH I REALLY DON’T WANT ON MY BLOG! Can you explain how such is possible and how to get rid of it?
    Thx
    Wout

  • Hi there – this is mostly likely being inserted by a browser extension or add-on. Can you please deactivate any extensions you’re using with Chrome and then reactivate them one-by-one until you identify which is inserting the advertisements?

happiness enginering…. That’s the post grade I’ve been looking for al my life! I’m a kind of Neanderthaler in digital environments though. How to deactivate and reactivate these extensions? And isn’t this illegal, abusing another persons websites? Thx so far.

  • :D

In Chrome, go to Window->Extensions, and a tab will open with a list of all your extensions. There’s a checkbox by each that says “Enabled” – just un-check it.

These browser extensions don’t actually do anything to your website. Rather, they insert link-based ads into every site you’re reading through your browser. It’s only on your end that you see it. Often, they’re some extension you installed from some site for another purpose, and didn’t realize it would insert ads.

I’m not sure about the legality, but it’s certainly very annoying!

    Thx! That’ll do it… (I hope)
