What is the URL of the Page (sub-page) in question?
Did you create a custom menu? https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/view-all/#1-create-a-custom-menu
Did you add that page and sub-page into the custom menu? https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/view-all/#adding-pages
Lastly, did you do this: Changing the Order & Creating Sub-Menus? -
No I didn’t create a custom menu.
And why wouldn’t the url be same as all the other page.

If I am going to create sub menus, what is the advantage of a parent page? -
Please do what I have provided instructions for:
Create a custom menu https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/view-all/#1-create-a-custom-menu
Add all pages and sub-pages into it https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/view-all/#adding-pages
Arrange them as required https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/view-all/#changing-the-order-creating-sub-menus -
I don’t mean to sound ungrateful, but I don’t understand what is the purpose of having a parent page if I have to go through all of that. No instructions on creating a parent page have you creating a custom menu and the link is very complicated; adding sub pages and again the link is complicated and the changing the order. It is easier, although this is not what I originally wanted to do, to just create and page and move it under the page I wanted in the menu. This is not however a parent page.
Thank you for your help. -

Hi there,
No I didn’t create a custom menu.
You did. If you go to My site ->Menus you will see your menu listed there. It is titled Menu 1 and it is set as the primary menu for your site.
The parent page and page order settings in the page editor are only for when you are using the default menu. The moment you activate a custom menu those settings are overridden, as the whole point of custom menus is to give you more direct control over how the menu appears – you can simply drag-and-drop pages in the positions you want, with no need to worry about setting a parent page or a page order.
Go to My Site ->Menus (you can also do this in the Customizer) and edit Menu 1. Click Add Item to add the new pages and drag and drop them where you want them. Save the menu when you’re done and it will be live on your site.
