Parent Page no longer usable

  • Unknown's avatar

Up until today i was able to use the Parent Page – Page Attribute without problem, creating a nested list of pages for my site.

Today when i create new pages, the Parent Page attribute is blank and will not accept any value i enter (the field becomes blank as soon as i leave it).

Existing pages that i edit also appear to have their previous Parent Page attribute values blanked out (i’m unwilling to apply any updates to pages in case it permanently removes the Parent Page attribute i selected for them).

  • Hi there!

When you created those pages, were you working on them from WP-admin or directly from My Site>Site>Pages?

I noticed the blank spaces when opening the pages from My Site, but you can still see them when clicking on Quick edit from here: https://alternaterealmsblog.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page

When did you start noticing it?

    Hi,

I noticed it yesterday, the last time i used the Parent Page feature would have been 3 days ago when i last created a page.

I’ve tried using the Quick Edit and that works, i can select a Parent Page from there.

Up until now i have been using the My Site > Site > Pages route.

  • Thanks for clarifying. I see your site has quite a few pages (almost 200) and it can be the case that when you have a lot of pages like this, it can cause the page list in the Parent Page setting dropdown to load slowly (or fail to load) the page list.

Our engineers are working on this, and it has been reported by other site owners as well. We don’t have an estimated timeline for when this will be fixed as they are still investigating, but for now you can continue to use the “quick edit” function to set the parent page, which as you seem to have discovered still works fine.

    Thanks for your patience!
