Parents and children, Forever
-
I am seized with a desire to be able to post one essay per page where there are currently three in the page called ‘Bit Essays’.
Having tried to find out how to do this and failed miserably, I turn to Support to advise me on the best way of having a Parent page containing a bit of info. followed by any number of child pages, all accessible by dropdown. PLEASE.The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It would be easier to just use Posts and a Category page. There is a finite limit on the number of Pages accessible in a drop-down menu.

Posts and … a Category page?
Oh, OK. I’ve found a Support page for them, and will now study.
But btw, what is that finite limit, please, raincoaster? -
Sh*t a brick. I never knew. :-(
Yes,this is PRECISELY what I want, and always has been. Absolutely spot-on for small writings.
So much to learn: so little time. And in my case, it’s bloody true! :-(
Thanks heaps, raincoaster. -
HELP!!!
I’ve had to publish these three essays as new posts, which is going to piss of my followers; and they’re not turning up in the Bit Essays page.
Please: what haven’t I done? -
Fixed it. Suddenly realised it was pointless thinking I could go on using what was already in the custom menu, as (it hit me, eventually) that was not coming from posts, but pages!
Ah, the old bonce … -

Trust me, your followers will deal with it. IF that’s the worst you do to them, it’s not bad. BTW did you know Pages don’t show to subscribers? They’re not in teh Reader or the RSS feeds or the emails. So the only way for subscribers to see your story is to make it as posts.

Raincoaster, if I could work out the mysteries of the Reader I’d be a happy old fart. I have NO IDEA what I’m doing in there. Is there one of those Support pages to clarify it for me beyond senility’s inability?
:-
Ah, another Panos piece of advice. I’ll take it.
Thanks, me old china – much obliged? -
The Reader? I don’t bother with it. It’s not configurable, and I know all the blogs I want to read already.
Everything is in the Support documents somewhere http://support.wordpress.com/
