Parked Domain
-
I am working on a website for a non-profit group and I noticed while I was working on it that the domain name needed to be renewed. I clicked the link and renewed and got verification that it renewed. Then all of my files were missing. I cancelled the payment to redo it because I thought it linked the incorrect site and when I did it “Parked” the website through WordPress. I need my original domain back. I purchased a more expensive plan, but can’t link my original domain name to it. The domain says it’s already taken through wordpress, but it shows up as “parked”. Can anyone help me with this?
Please let me know.
Thanks! The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
A domain renewal cannot be reversed. What you did was completely cancel the domain, removing it from your account. Cancelled domains are not released immediately, and it can take anything from a few days to over a year before a cancelled domain becomes available again, if at all.
Can you confirm that you’re speaking of oxfordoaksministry.com? Once you confirm we can restore that domain to your account.

I am Deborah Kinney [redacted phone #] and I work on the website for the Oxford Oaks Ministry. I am positively working on behalf of the Oxford Oaks Ministry to help them resolve this problem. Do you need anything else to prove I am who I say I am on behalf of this ministry? Thank you for any help you can provide.

Also the e-mail connected with this domain is (email visible only to moderators and staff) but we can’t access it since the files are missing. Hope you can help.
Much thanks in advance. -
Since you receive a full refund for the domain when you canceled it, I have sent an invoice for the $18 to the email address on your account listed at https://wordpress.com/me/account
Once the payment is sent, please reply here to let us know, and we will recover the domain.

Thank you so much for your help. Can you tell me why the http://www.oxfordoaksminsitry.com doesn’t work, but if I type in https://oxfordoaksministry.com it will take me to the site. We would like to http://www.oxfordoaksministry.com – not sure why we can’t access the site this way. Thank you for any help you can give us.

It looks like the DNS record that handles the www redirect was not properly restored for your domain. I’ve added that now, and the www version should start working within a few hours.

The site is working, however, our latest files as of August 24th are no longer there. Only files from 2018 which are not current. Is there anyway of restoring our files? I just want to avoid having to re-do the whole website. Thank you.
-
Hm, restoring the domain doesn’t edit the content of the site.
Was your domain perhaps pointed to a WordPress.org site hosted elsewhere?
-
No, it was the .com site. It was updated with the files on Monday, Aug. 24th and when I went to work on it on Aug 30th the files were all gone. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

Maybe there was a different domain?
Even https://web.archive.org/web/2018*/https://oxfordoaksministry.com/ doesn’t have any history for the site since 2018.
-
Could you please check under http://www.oxfordoaksministry.com or http://www.oxfordoaksministry.wordpress.com? The website was last updated on August 24th and when I logged in to it on Sunday, August 30th files since 2018 were all missing. Please let me know.

Hi there,
It looks like you had a Business Plan that expired a year ago and then downgraded to another plan. However, the contents of your site that was a part of the Business Plan is no longer available and expired a year ago. You’ll have to create the content again with the new plan that you have.
I will reach out to our team internally to see if there is anything they can do, but content associated with the business plan you had a year ago has been permanently removed.
Thank you,
