Parsing a huge blog

My blog spans over 5 years and literally thousands of posts. I’ve tried to reorganize it in the past, adjust categories, and have found few ways to do this in a manner that is efficient and doesn’t take days. I exported it for a back up and it’s a little over 8 megs. I would like to break the blog up into smaller blogs rather than attempt to manage the categories but I see no way to do this either – the export only seems to take it in one lump.

Could someone provide some ideas on how to organize this? Are there other programs in which I could edit the xml and then import smaller chunks? Is there a feature I’m missing somewhere?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you want to add categories to a lot of posts at once, go to edit, check the posts you want to add the categories to. At the bottom of the list of pages is a little button that says “bulk edit” and in the dropdown choose the option “edit.” Apply. Then the checked posts will appear and you can apply categories and tags to them all at once.

Even doing that would be very time consuming and inefficient. I can only see one entry at a time and can only bulk edit something like 20 posts at a time but have well over a thousand posts to manage. Again, if there is an eport or xml management this would be better.
