PART OF MY POST GOT DELETED
-
So…. I’m pretty upset. I just started using WordPress because I thought it would be a more mature move in my life. I’ve had a blog at Tumblr for awhile now but just decided to start a wordpress. So it’s not like I don’t know what I’m doing on here and I don’t want some answer like, “Did you think you accidentally deleted part of the text?” Because I didn’t. But yeah, my first post was pretty lengthy and it had some personal matters on there that there’s not really any way I can recall what all needs to be there. Soooo where’d the rest of my post go?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I apologize for being upset. I just didn’t expect for part of the post to just “disappear.” If any one could help, it would be awesome.
Thanks. -
Is this you:
http://robbymyers.wordpress.com/It is best to link to the blog/site you are asking about with http:// ??
Did you know that you can link your username to your site:
To link your name link to your blog (Users > Personal Settings: scroll down to Account Details, paste your blog URL in the Website field, click Save Changes). If that is what you are asking about, then what is missing? We volunteers need more detail in order to assist you.

A few suggestions.
1. Whenever you start a new post, put in a title and then click the save button. That will activate the autosave function and if something does go wrong, you should be able to recover most, if not all of the missing content.
2. Check the post revisions module in the post editor (with that post open) and see if it autosaved a late version of the post with more of the content in it.
3. Having seen a lot of “hiccups” on the web that cause people to lose stuff when using online editors, I always recommend one of the blog client software packages such as Windows Live Writer (Windows free download) or Ecto (Mac around $20) since they save stuff right on your computer hard drive and you can upload the post right from the blog client. That is really the only way to be completely safe. There are just too many things that can happen between the time you click the publish button in an online editor, and the time it actually gets to its destination. The web is far, far, far from perfect which is why you will never find me trusting a “cloud”.

Good points Richard.
Just the other day I was winging along on a quick post, and had a simple table with 3 images. ZAP!
I “always” copy all before saving a draft, but didn’t because I was in a rush. They were gone!!! table and all. But there was an autosave: with most of the code I’d written.
Indeed: check the autosave versions and we’ll hope for the best.

Thank you Richard for the autosave feature. I was able to go back a few weeks ago to find the latest version. And it was all there. I’m still not sure why or how part of it got deleted… and ideas? The way that I usually do these longer posts is that I will write part of it and save it as a draft so I can come back to it later. I was finally done with it a few days ago and just went to it yesterday and part of it was deleted. I wrote some of it on my iPhone and saved it as a draft. You think somehow this deleted part of it?
Anyways… It’s all there now. Thanks guys. I appreciate it. I think I was in such a wreck yesterday that I let my anger come out, haha. Sorry. But I appreciate the response. Thanks again.
@1tess yes, that is my blog. thanks for letting me know to link to it.
