Part of post missing while using the new block editor
-
Post URL: https://philosophyamusing.wordpress.com/2020/08/14/another-text-that-like-any-exists-since-ever/
Besides totally unfriendly regarding my personal goal of working with the text exclusively, I mean, no images, no fancy editing, etc, the new editor messes up old posts in general, not to mention that some of them opens in a different version of the classic editor, yet lacking a feature that is important to me, the justified paragraph, an issue that, by the way I fix at the HTML view.
Hope we can find a solution to all of this soon.
Thanks,
P.S.: Question: why is it that impossible to keep the highly functional and simple Classic Editor available beside the new one?

Hi there, I see you followed up on staff’s suggestion to open a separate thread, so I’ve gone ahead and flagged it for their attention.
Thanks for your patience while they get back to you.

I currently see the whole post as displayed in the block editor.
What specifically is missing?
-
Thank you guys for caring about this issue.
The last before the missing paragraphs is the one that ends with “…non-secret languages we are used to.” I must add that it happens in both modes (code and visual), as well as in the visualization, and that the browser I use is Firefox. Incidentally, I tried to edit at the Adroid app, but besides acting in the same way, it never truly worked for me (it messes with the HTML code when I insert the paragraph justification).

Hm, that’s a bit odd that the full version is the published one when the text is missing in the editor. I can see that previous, full version here: https://philosophyamusing.wordpress.com/wp-admin/revision.php?revision=3698
You can try to restore it or recreate the post as a new one by copying and pasting it from the published site. Also, not that with the new Block Editor there is no need to edit the post as HTML, you can justify the paragraphs easily just as in the Classic one:
https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/paragraph-block/#more-options
The different version of the Classic Editor you mentioned must be the Classic Block. It was created to make the transition between the two blocks smoother:

HI, staff-mckluskey,
The post was published using the Classic Editor. It is when I try to edit it that part of it gets missing.
Another issue is that all posts, which I published with the Classic, open for edition in their original editor, yet it wasn’t the case of this one, which opened in the Block editor. I indeed thought about republishing, but since I hadn’t access to the code of the entire post, i gave up the idea.
How does one get to the revisions page?
Thanks,
-
The post was published using the Classic Editor. It is when I try to edit it that part of it gets missing.
Based on the revision history, that section of the post was deleted a week ago, on 11 October, and that the change was made by your account. So you most likely deleted part of the post and updated without realising.
How does one get to the revisions page?
You can find that under the Post tab of the editor sidebar:
Another issue is that all posts, which I published with the Classic, open for edition in their original editor, yet it wasn’t the case of this one, which opened in the Block editor
Based on the revision history, this post was originally created in the block editor – I don’t see any past revision of this post that doesn’t have the HTML code associated with blocks in it.

Again, thanks for all the info.
All I want now is get the whole original post back for editing.
For your (staff’s) information, the post was created in the Classic Editor, but it unexpectedly opened in the Block Ed when I tried to edit it. I noticed the missing final part, and I didn’t save the editing. It seems quite irregular that the published page is complete, but opens for editing without almost half of it.
Another incomprehensible issue is the absence of an option to continue using the Classic Editor in the case the Block Ed is useless and cumbersome as regards the goals of the blog. It is hard to imagine that this is a matter of server storage or coding – I never found an explanation to this anywhere.

Hi there,
As Kokkieh mentioned, there is no “revision” of this post that was created in the classic editor. All revisions I see were started in the block editor… perhaps you did not realize this at the time but I can confirm it was never created using our classic tools.
However, if you wish you can continue to edit in classic mode (for the time being) by visiting the wp-admin version of your posts list here: https://philosophyamusing.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php
Once there, under each post you can see the link to edit in the classic editor. You can see what I see at this link: https://d.pr/i/rHPMaK
