Partial exporting
-
I have tried exporting my wordpress.com posts to wordpress.org and for some reason, only some of my posts are showing up. Could someone help me with this?
-
Hi there!
We can’t access your WordPress.org site so we won’t be able to troubleshoot any issues on that end but we can make sure that the file you’re exporting is correct.
Have you tried exporting and importing a new file? Does the issue persist? -
Yes, it does persist. I have tried exporting my posts per month so as to make the files smaller but now, I’m having the issue of images not exporting for most of my posts. Why would that be?
-
The export file itself doesn’t contain any images or media.
The only option for that is to export the media library as a whole: https://wordpress.com/support/export/#exporting-the-media-library
WordPress.org, however, should bring across attached media automatically when importing the export file.
What are the URLs of some of the posts which did not bring over the media?
-
is there a way of uploading all media at once on wordpress.org?
Some examples of posts whose images won’t get imported are the following:

Hm, those images are attached to the posts, that should have worked on the import.
If it’s not too many posts, I strong recommend just re-uploading the featured image on the WordPress.org site.
You can manually upload the whole media export via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), and then use https://wordpress.org/plugins/add-from-server/ to add them to the media library, but that plugin isn’t supported and there are no others like it.

when I export the media from wordpress.com, it does not export everything. Is there a way of exporting only a certain amount of media at a time?
-
Hm, no, it will only export the whole media library.
Can you mention two or three files that it missed, I’m curious to see if we can narrow down any similarities for a cause.
-
The same ones I posted previously didn’t get their images exported.

Here are another two that didn’t export either:

The same ones I posted previously didn’t get their images exported.
Just to clarify something here – images never get exported. The export file contains links to the images in your media library only, not the images themselves.
Is is up to the importer on the other site to fetch those images and upload them to the new site’s media library. So if some images didn’t make it across, it’s an issue with the other site’s import process.
For help troubleshooting possible causes and advice on how to fix it, you’ll need to ask the WordPress.org community who provides support for the version of WordPress you’re using on the new site.
I see only one of the five posts you listed above have images in the post itself, so I assume it’s the featured images that didn’t make it across, correct? What is the URL of the self-hosted site you’re importing to, and what theme is that site using?
